Our Company

KVD is a leading high technology supplier to semiconductor IC manufacturers. We build automated test equipment used to check the quality and integrity of our customers manufacturing process and IC designs. The Company's headquartered in Carlsbad, California, with offices throughout the US . Our test solutions are focused on analog dominant markets : Linear, Power Management, Audio, Video, MEM's, Solar and Image Sensors.

The Company's is private, self financed and investing in growth. Our main focus is provide our customers a competitive edge against their peers. We do this by providing an integrated product that is cost effective, efficient and easy to deploy.

Our Management

Veets Veitas - CEO

Mr. Veitas is a Partner and Founder of KVD.  Prior to founding KVD in 1987, he was an Applications Engineer with Axiom Technology and LTX working on Telecom and Mixed Signal test solutions. He holds a BSEE from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Peter E. deHollan - President

Mr. deHollan is a Partner and Founder of KVD.  Prior to founding KVD in 1987, he was a founder and Manager of Applications Engineering with Axiom Technology, later sold to Credence. Prior to Axiom he held various engineering and marketing management positions at LTX. Before LTX he worked at Teradyne where he began his engineering career; first under a work study program, then after graduation, as a design engineer in the linear product group. He holds a BSEE from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Aurel deHollan - Chief Scientist

Mr. deHollan is a Partner of KVD since 1994. His activities focus on testing opto-electronic devices and development of low cost testers. Prior to KVD, he has worked at Digital Equipment Corporation developing object oriented databases. He holds BA and MA degrees in physics from Harvard University, Boston, MA.

Ross Martindale - VP Business Development

Mr. Martindale started at KVD in April 07. Prior to KVD he worked at Credence Systems Inc. for 7 years in product marketing and business management roles for the analog division. Prior to Credence, he worked at TMT Inc as a product manager and applications engineer for the ASL product line. Before TMT, he worked at Teradyne Inc. in field applications and service roles. He holds a BSEE from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Dean VanDruff - VP Sales

Mr. VanDruff started at KVD in October 06 and has over 25 years of ATE experience. Prior to KVD he worked at Credence Systems Inc as the ASL product manager and also as the SZ sales manager. Before Credence, Mr. VanDruff was an executive at TMT Inc managing north american sales. Prior to TMT he held various management and engineering positions at LTX and Fairchild. He holds a BSEET from DeVry.

Bill Carton - Director of Customer Support

Mr. Carton has spent his entire career in the ATE business. He joined KVD in 2000 from Credence, where he was senior technical support for the Domain and STS product lines. Before Credence he started at Axiom Technology in 1983 as their field service manager. Prior to Axiom, Mr. Carton held various roles in his 10 year tenure at Teradyne in system integration, design and applications. He holds a BSEE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, MA.

Our History

  • 1987 : Founded by three ATE experts. Designed Mixed Signal instruments and provided outsourced applications services
  • 1994 : Introduced the V2 Mixed Signal test platform
  • 1998 : Introduced the M2 Mixed Signal test platform with distributed DSP
  • 1999 : Introduced M2 based Image sensor option for CCD and CMOS markets
  • 2000 : Introduced M2 based Audio instrumentation for MP3, PDA and Mobile device market
  • 2001 : Introduced M2 based thin film laser trim option to optimize production efficiency for high performance analog trim with ESI / GSI lasers
  • 2005 : Introduced M2 based 80MHz digital option for Mixed Signal and Power Management markets
  • 2007 : Introduced the lower cost M1 platform - designed for lower pin count Power Management devices utilizing higher UPH handling equipment

Our Strategy

KVD's strategy is to provide products that enable our customers to deliver better quality parts, in shorter amounts of time and with high degrees of test coverage and overall yield. We strive to build products that help optimize our customers profit while accelerating initial return on investment.

Our strengths are a combination of who we hire and how we handle support.

Our company is a good mix of a seasoned team of ATE professionals, college grads and experts in design and manufacturing. The result - a good balance of industry knowledge, new ideas, problem solving skills and a passion to succeed. We are very focused on markets where our skill sets provide the best value and are always looking at emerging industries to find alignment and synergy with our teams.

KVD's support is built on the old premise that the customer always comes first, and with KVD, our customers are always our primary focus. Our service teams respond instantaneously. Repairs are expedited as a matter of course. Training programs are customized, focused and tuned for each environment. Most critically, we always give our customers feedback so they can plan accordingly. At KVD, no news is not good news.
